Do I need reservations for fall tours?

Yes, you need to reserve your spot on a tour no matter what season. We do not accept walk-ups. You can book your tour here.

Can I drive my own team of dogs during my visit?

No, our experienced musher guides drive the team during your visit. However, visit us on a Sled Dog Cart Ride to ride along as our musher takes a team of dogs out for a summer training run.

Do you have suggestions for what kind of clothing to wear on a fall tour?

Yes, Alaskan weather can be unpredictable. Tours at Trail Breaker Kennel operate rain or shine. Be prepared for the unpredictable Alaskan weather by bringing layers and a raincoat. We have ponchos for use when needed.

What if I need to cancel or modify my tour?

You can easily cancel or modify your tour. Please do so by emailing us at tours@trailbreakerkennel.com or calling us at 907-347-7274. If you need to cancel your tour, we ask that you do so as soon as possible. If cancelled 24 hours before your tour, you will receive a full refund. If cancelled within 24 hours of your tour, you will receive a 50% refund. Tours that are not cancelled will be charged the full amount.

Are there age restrictions for your fall tours?

Yes, guests who participate in our Dog Sled Ride and Summer Kennel Tour + Dog Mushing Demo must be at least 4 years old.

Is transportation to the kennel included in your fall tours?

No, we do not provide transportation to the kennel. Guests must make their way to and from the kennel on their own. If you are in need of transportation, we suggest using one of the taxi services in Fairbanks. For a list of the taxis in Fairbanks, click here.

Do your guides accept tips?

Our guides do accept tips, and they are greatly appreciated. Tipping is left up to the individual, but as a general practice, 15-20% of the tour cost is the common gratuity in Fairbanks. You can find our guide’s venmo/paypal information here.

Is there parking at the kennel?

Yes, parking is available at the kennel for those guests who have their own car. When you arrive on property, follow the signs directing you where to park. One of our guides will meet you there to start your tour.

Do you provide tours for large groups?

Yes, we do our best to accommodate groups of all sizes. For large groups, please call us at 907-347-7274 or email us at tours@trailbreakerkennel.com

Where is the kennel located?

We are located in Fairbanks, Alaska. If you have booked a summer tour, you will receive a confirmation email with detailed instructions on how to get yourself to the kennel. The kennel is located on private property, so we ask that only those who have a confirmed tour make their way to the kennel.

What if I have mobility issues, can I still participate in your summer tours?

We work to provide everyone with a great experience, no matter their level of mobility. However, our summer activities require guests to do minimal walking around our kennel. Our mushers will be there to help, but if you, or anyone in your party has concerns about mobility please email us at tours@trailbreakerkennel.com or give us a call at 907-347-7274. We will be happy to chat with you and work out a way for you to get the most out of your visit.

Do you allow guests to bring pets along with them?

No, we do not allow outside animals on our property. If you require a service animal, please email us at tours@trailbreakerkennel.com so we can discuss how to best welcome you to Trail Breaker Kennel.
