Our summer kennel tours include an entertaining and educational presentation about sled dogs and the sport of mushing, puppy cuddling, and visiting with adult dogs. Trail Breaker Kennel is the home of Yukon Quest Champion David Monson and 4-time Iditarod Champion Susan Butcher. Though Susan passed away while in the prime of her life, her legacy with the dogs continues with her family and staff who thrive on sharing our passion for sled dogs with guests from around the world. Come find out why a visit to Trail Breaker Kennel is like a “back stage pass” into a champion sled dog kennel where you meet the people and the dogs who share the lifestyle of mushing. We are in the process of partnering with some neighboring hotels and tour companies to offer “Back Stage Pass” tours at Trail Breaker Kennel. Please check back to our website as summer 2015 approaches for more details.

The Riverboat Discovery
Also for summer visitors, we encourage you to contact The Riverboat Discovery at www.riverboatdiscovery.com. They offer a wonderful riverboat tour on the Chena River that passes by Trail Breaker Kennel. You’ll get to see a team of dogs burst forth from the yard headed out on a training run. Many visitors enjoy taking both tours, the Riverboat Discovery experience and the “Back Stage Pass” tour at Trail Breaker Kennel offered through neighboring partner hotels and tour companies.
This winter the Trail Breaker Kennel sled dogs will be training and racing throughout Alaska. At this time, we do not plan to offer sled dog rides. Follow the Trail Breaker team on the 2015 Iditarod Sled Dog Race trail. The TBK dogs will be driven by TBK’s own Laura Allaway on her rookie run of the Iditarod. Please check our website as the winter progresses about the status of our winter sled dog rides.
